About me The Des Plaines des Bruyères kennel was born in the 90s from the passion of my parents, Jean-Marc and Corinne, who lovingly bred Italian Greyhounds and Whippets. I followed them with pleasure on all their trips to exhibitions and already presented their dogs myself in young presenter competitions. In 2009, I took up the torch to devote myself fully to breeding the Whippet. My first litter was born in 2012 after three years spent making myself known and making my first breeders known. Driven by a passion for selection and showcasing our breeders in exhibitions, I am committed to raising beautiful puppies, balanced and happy, combining beauty, health and good character. We have been members of the French Whippet Club since 2010, and are fully invested in the life of our breed club. Our History 1990 MY PARENTS' KENNEL Plaines des Bruyères was born in the 90s, when I was only 3 or 4 years old. The breeding, on a family scale, saw the birth of whippets and small Italian greyhounds with my parents. 2009 THE COMEBACK In 2009, I took up the torch from my parents, who died while welcoming my very first whippet, Erius, and returned to the path of dog shows which were the playground of my childhood. Our dogs are first and foremost our life companions and share our daily lives. A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT We live at the foot of the Vosges, in a natural environment, without pollution or nuisances, which contributes greatly to the physical and mental well-being of our dogs, who have 8000m2 of land and many places for walks in the middle of the forest. FAMILY LIFE FIRST Our companions are not just breeding dogs, but full-fledged members of the family. They live with us at home, share our daily lives and evolve in a familiar and warm environment. Every day, they witness our activities, from quiet moments to more animated moments, and bring a constant and comforting presence. They share our daily lives and that of our 5-year-old daughter. Appreciated as much for its performance in the field as for its role as a faithful companion, it is today a versatile dog that appeals to many fanciers. But where does this small sighthound with its expressive gaze and thoroughbred appearance come from? Its history goes back several centuries and reflects its evolution from a hunting and racing dog to a true member of the family. The Origins of the Whippet The Whippet is a relatively recent breed, whose origins date back to the 19th century in England. It is the result of crossbreeding between several types of sighthounds, including the Greyhound, the Terrier and the Italian Greyhound. This selection was aimed at creating a fast, agile and enduring dog, capable of hunting small game, particularly rabbits. The breed was developed primarily by workers in the north of England, particularly in the mining regions of Yorkshire and Lancashire. Unable to afford large Greyhounds, which were considered dogs of the nobility, they selected smaller but equally fast and efficient dogs. This is how the Whippet became a popular dog for hunting, but also for racing, where it earned the nickname "the poor man's Greyhound". Evolution into a companion dog Over time, the Whippet has conquered homes thanks to its affectionate and gentle temperament. This allows us to better understand your expectations and advise you as best we can. Please do not limit yourself to a simple price request. RESERVATION To reserve a puppy with us, we ask for a serious initial contact followed by a deposit payment and a reservation contract. This allows us to guarantee your choice while ensuring that we find the ideal family for each of our puppies. PRICE All our puppies, registered with the LOF without exception, are offered at the price of 1800 euros.
